POST's mission is to engage, connect and equip the Mecklenburg County community to deliver high quality afterschool and summer learning opportunities for all Mecklenburg County students (K-12). “Out-of-School Time” refers to all of the hours before school, after school, teacher workdays, school holidays, weekends, and summers. Experiences that foster social, emotional, physical, moral, and intellectual development are proven to be essential for children and youth to become capable and effective members of society.

Since 2001, POST has operated in collaboration with partners in Mecklenburg County, across the Carolinas, and nationally to advance afterschool and youth development. In 2010-2011 the IMPACT of POST will be

•Middle School Program Standards
•Beginning of Quality Rating & Improvement System
•3 High School Matters pilot programs
•100 afterschool staff participants in Afterschool Academy
•100 afterschool/summer staff participants in Leaf & STEM training
•Higher Standards for the Summer Camp Fund
