CommunityWorks is the separately incorporated, community planning initiative of UnitedWay of Central Carolinas, Inc. As part of its commitment to supporting the effective delivery of health and human services, CommunityWorks works to conduct regional, citizen-based
strategic planning and to mobilize resources to promote systemic change.
Building on Our Strengths, a report from the CommunityWorks Community Indicators Committee, is one of the products we offer to fulfill this mission. It is designed to be an ongoing publication, a reference and inspiration for building on our community assets and for
mobilizing individuals and groups to work together to maximize the vitality and well-being of the community and all its residents.
Community indicators offer a means of assessing the well-being of a community. Each indicator on its own is a measure of one aspect of the quality of life in our community. Taken together, however, the indicators more comprehensively represent the overall well-being of residents with respect to health and human services. Monitoring indicators helps leaders gauge trends in community progress over time. The indicators also provide the foundation on which to establish organizational and community priorities and to direct collective action for improvement.
